Barn on fire but animals saved
Sara Holderbaum, a 14-year-old girl from St. Joseph County, IN, was forced to put her love for animals to the test yesterday morning- as she watched her family barn go up in flames with her bunnies and sheep inside it.
“I knew there were animals in the barn so I went to the side where my bunnies and sheep were penned in. I let the sheep out and chased them so I knew they were out of the barn,” Sara recalled after saving all 25 of her sheep and just a fraction of her bunnies.
Janet Holderbaum, her grandmother, took a minute to breathe a sigh of relief and to even laugh at her granddaughter’s courageous efforts.
“That is Sara, animals are a love of hers. She just loves every animal, really everything that crawls.”
